Hair transplantation can be briefly described as the transplantation of hair follicles taken from the donor area (the area between the ears at the nape of the neck) to a thin or balding area. During the harvesting phase, performed by expert, experienced, and knowledgeable professionals, hair follicles are harvested from the donor area in a uniform, dispersed manner. New hair does not grow in the place of the harvested follicles. As a result of the homogeneous harvesting process, the remaining areas in the donor area and the areas with hair complement each other, reducing the visibility of the resulting micro-scars. Therefore, the harvesting process is as important as every other step of the hair transplant process.
Will There Be A Scar On The Back Of The Neck After The Extraction?
Small holes-like scars remain in the place of the extracted hair follicles. These scars are permanent, but unless the hair is cut too short, they will not be noticeable after a hair transplant performed in the right place.
Will There Be Any Scars in the Transplantation Area After the Procedure?
During a hair transplant, thousands of channels are opened in the thinning or balding area to accommodate the transplanted follicles. These channels fully close and heal within an average of 1-1.5 months.
While the channels may leave a slight scar, each channel produces single, double, triple, or quadruple hairs, which obscure the micro-holes. Unless the hair is cut to a size 0 or 3, the scars are unnoticeable in either the transplanted or donor areas.
What Happens If the Purchasing Process Is Not Homogeneous?
As mentioned earlier, it’s important for the transplantation process to be carried out homogeneously, in other words, dispersedly, to prevent visible bald patches in the donor area.
Since new hair won’t replace the transplanted follicles, the transplanted areas will remain bare. If a concentrated harvest is made from a specific area instead of a uniform harvest, that portion of the donor area will remain bare. When the hair grows back, the transplantation will be obvious, and the transplant scars will be visible.
