How Frequently Should You Wash Your Hair After Hair Transplantation?

Saç Ekimi Sonrası Nasıl Saç Yıkanmalı?

In a hair transplant, follicles are taken from the donor area (the area between the ears at the nape of the neck) and transplanted into channels opened in the thin or balding area. In other words, the hair that grows back is the person’s own hair.

Should Hair Be Washed Every Day After Hair Transplantation?

The first wash is performed on the second day after the hair transplant, and the transplanted area is washed gently for ten days, as instructed and explained. The lotions and shampoos used during the ten days should be those provided or recommended by the center where the transplant was performed.

After the ten-day period has passed and the scabs have shed, patients can return to their routine and products. Factors such as the individual’s hair type, skin type, and work environment may play a role. If a person works in a very dusty environment and washes their hair daily before the procedure, they can continue to do so after the procedure. There are no specific limits or rules regarding hair washing after the transplant.

What Happens If You Don’t Wash Your Hair After a Hair Transplant?

One of the essential rules for a successful hair transplant is for each person involved to do their part in the most appropriate way. It is the responsibility of the hair transplant recipient to adhere to the instructions of the specialist and their affiliated institution. After the procedure, patients are instructed in detail on what to do and avoid, and they are asked to stay in touch and consult with them regarding any issues.

The most important thing for patients to do is to soften their hair with the provided lotion and shampoo, as instructed and shown, starting the second day following the procedure and continuing for ten days.
Failure to do this can lead to dryness in the transplanted area and damage to the grafts. Because this is the early stages and the canals are not fully closed, the risk of infection can increase.

At First Class Esthetic, we recommend that our patients have their first wash and, if possible, even the scab removal procedure in the clinic. We carefully perform these procedures for patients who have the time and location available. However, since these procedures are not incompatible or difficult to understand, patients can comfortably wash and scab removal at home. Our priority is to be present with our patients throughout the process, whether in person or over the phone. We closely monitor each patient’s washing and scabbing process and stay in constant communication with them. We value the healthy and correct nature of the process as much as our patients do.
