A hair transplant shouldn’t be considered a 6-8 hour procedure. The hair transplant chain is only complete when the right center, a competent and expert team, a dedicated communication team, and the individual’s full compliance with the instructions and recommendations are all integrated.
What to Do After Hair Transplantation
TO TRUST
-Follow the instructions and recommendations given to you.
You’ve selected a center after your research and have completed your hair transplant. From this point on, your responsibility is to carefully and completely follow their instructions.
The center you trust with your hair, and perhaps even your mental health, will do what’s best for you. Therefore, the most important thing you can do is stay in touch and adapt to your center to ensure a comfortable and stress-free process.
MEDICINES
-Take prescribed medications promptly.
After the procedure, you will be given antibiotics, anti-edema medications, and painkillers as needed. These medications should be taken regularly for a week to prevent any infection or increased edema.
EDEMA
To prevent further swelling, the post-procedure bandage should not be removed for 4-5 days. During this time, the head should be kept elevated as much as possible. As everyone knows, preventing further swelling and eliminating it from the body depends on water consumption. Therefore, it’s important to drink plenty of water during the initial treatment.
WASHING
The first 12 days after a hair transplant are the most critical. Your first wash will occur on the second day following the procedure, and you will wash your hair daily with the provided foam and shampoo, as instructed, for the next 10 days.
CRITICAL PROCESS
During the first 12 days, avoid touching the recipient area; avoid hitting, scratching, or rubbing. At the end of the 12 days, your follow-up center will direct you to undergo a scab removal procedure. Once the scabs have fallen off, the hair will appear to have been cut short, and the waiting period will begin.
Things NOT to Do After Hair Transplantation
ALCOHOL/CIGARETTE
Alcohol and cigarette consumption should be discontinued if possible, especially in the initial period after the procedure, and if not, minimized. Alcohol should be avoided after the procedure due to its blood-thinning effect, and cigarettes should be avoided due to their negative effects on circulation.
WEATHER PRECAUTIONS
-For the first 12 days, exposure to intense sun, heavy rain, excessive dust and pollution should be avoided.
SPORT
-For the first 15 days, you should avoid any exercise or heavy lifting. Pressure on the recipient area should be avoided.
POOL/SOLARIUM
-Swimming pools and solariums should not be used for the first 3 months.
ACCESSORY USE
-Accessories such as hats, helmets, and berets should not be used for the first 4 months after hair transplantation.
SHAVING
-For the first 6 months, the transplanted area should not be touched with a shaver, and the growing hair should be shortened with scissors.
CHEMICAL USE
-No chemicals should be applied to the transplanted area for at least 8 months after the procedure.
In addition to these precautions, we recommend consulting with the center performing your hair transplant after the procedure, as you will be in contact with them before making any decisions (such as dyeing your hair, starting to use oils, lotions, or sprays you believe will nourish your hair, etc.).
